Know what to expect before commissioning a project.
Communication:
- Preferred methods of communication during projects are by sending an email to [email protected]
- Expected response time to new requests is typically within one day.
Pricing and Payment Terms
Custom Drawing Price Structure
- Drawings are based per project by the complexity of the references or concepts. Prices commonly range between $200 to $300 but may be more for a very complex piece.
Graphic Design Price Structure
- Graphic design projects (business cards, book covers, etc.) are priced based on an hourly rate.
- Digital photo restoration projects are priced based on the complexity of what needs fixing.
Invoicing and Payment Schedule for Commissions:
- An invoice will be sent via email prior to payment that lays out terms detailing when payments are due and the total amount.
- Payment installments can be arranged on larger purchases.
- For art commissions, a down payment will be required before work begins.

Revisions and Edits to Commissions:
- For graphic products, necessary edits will be free, but extensive editing or revisions to products will require further payment.
- For drawings, revisions and edits will require further payment.
Refundable and Nonrefundable Products and Services:
- Commissioned artworks and graphic design works are nonrefundable services.
- Books requested to be signed out to individuals are nonrefundable.
- Other products in the store are refundable if the buyer pays shipping.
Cancellation and Termination of Commissions:
- Upon cancellation of a commissioned artwork, the initial down payment will be kept as compensation.
- Griffith Preservation holds the right to terminate projects if the client breaks invoice agreements
- If unforeseen circumstances or acts beyond control require termination of the project, down payment will be returned to the client.
Deliveries and Ownership Rights
Turnaround Time for Commissions:
- Artworks and graphic design projects can take several days or weeks to complete.
- Delays in receiving feedback or materials from the client may affect this timeline.
Final Handover Products:
- Upon project completion clients will receive digital files in any format they request. By default, clients may receive a high quality .jpg or .pdf by email.
- Original artworks and prints will be shipped in a durable protective envelope and secured in an archival sleeve within a folder.
Ownership and Usage Rights of Commissions:
- Use of copyright symbol on the drawing next to the signature indicates ownership of Kyle Griffith.
- Those who commission custom portraits will have the right to share digital copies of their artwork. Kyle also offers professional quality prints of the custom artworks for purchase.
- The artist will retain rights to use commissioned portraits for portfolio use.
- Design assets are primarily sourced from real scanned documents and textures. Fonts used are downloaded as free-use and images used are confirmed to be public domain.
Confidentiality and Non-Disclosure on Projects:
- Projects are kept confidential unless otherwise inquired by the client to openly share an ongoing artwork or graphic design job.
- Commissions made as gifts during upcoming holidays will be kept private and will not be revealed on the website prior to gifting.
Terms Changes:
- Griffith Preservation has the right to update or modify the terms and will notify clients of any necessary changes beforehand.
Client Responsibilities:
- Clients should consider the time frame for requesting commissions. Please allow a month or longer ahead of beginning projects and stay available for communication over that time.
- Clients are asked to prepare high quality reference images or scans to send via email. Clients without scanners may seek out a public scanner at a local library.
- Images 3000 pixels in height or width are what I consider to be high quality.
- Progress updates will be sent to the client throughout the project and final proofs will be sent for approval.
Client Testimonials and Portfolio Usage:
- Griffith Preservation may decide to showcase the completed project in the website’s portfolio and may also request permission to use client testimonials if they provide a positive review.
