Brief Bio
I specialize in the historic preservation of rural American culture and architecture. I was enticed to love Virginia after being raised in a small, tight-knit tobacco farming community in Pittsylvania County. My first 20 years were spent living in the home built for my great-great grandmother. The collection of countless old photos and heirlooms led me to develop a hobby of genealogy research. One major step in the journey to understanding my roots was when I joined the Pittsylvania County Historical Society.
Professional Opportunities and Collaboration
I am actively seeking opportunities with organizations where I can leverage my expertise in collections management, artifact documentation, historic property surveying, document scanning, genealogy research, deed research, and the transcription of historical records. My diverse skill set also includes creative and academic writing, graphic design, digital photo restoration, traditional drawn portraits in the style of realism, and digital art such as mapmaking, all of which I am keen to apply in a professional context. Examples of potential contributions include writing and publishing articles and booklets, creating visually compelling event banners, advertisements, and merchandise such as calendars or stationery.
With experience working in a museum setting, designing museum exhibits, label writing, and curatorial work, I am well-equipped to enhance any museum or historical project. Additionally, I am available for engagements as a speaker, offering presentations tailored to the interests of historical societies, libraries, and similar organizations. I am particularly inspired by the work of Preservation Virginia and the Department of Historic Resources.
For further information or to discuss potential collaboration, please reach out to me via email. I am eager to contribute to historic preservation efforts and work together.

The Vision of Griffith Preservation
This website is a source of many products, services, and experiences. Foremost, it serves as a personal portfolio of my passions. The site is a place of learning and exploration. It is a place where guests can learn about life in the past in a more personal way. Guests may explore history from the perspectives of average rural American families and see the faces of real people who lived in the 19th century. Observe the belongings they once held, the homes they lived in, and the land they once domesticated. Most items and photos exhibited are sourced in Virginia, but as I travel further, the content may expand to other regions. The history of small rural communities, country businesses, and plain folks are the major focus of my preservation efforts.
